The Masterplan

1

Improved access
The scheme will make sizeable investment into the transport network to help address ongoing issues and limit the impact of development. Proposals include the potential for new roads to be delivered, should adjoining land come forward for development on land controlled by others.

2

Community hub and site for health centre
The community hub will provide a wide range of services and facilities for new and existing residents at Bournes Green. Proposals are being developed in discussion with the NHS for a new health centre, with the potential to provide healthcare for up to 15,000 people.

3

School and nursery
As part of our plans, we will be creating a new two form entry primary school and nursery within the Bournes Green neighbourhood.

4

Retained hedgerows and treebelts
Our proposals will preserve ecological value by largely retaining existing hedgerows and treebelts.

5

The Park
Our plans will deliver Southend’s largest new park, featuring dedicated spaces for sports, leisure, and play for all ages. Potential facilities could include netball, padel and tennis courts, cricket and football pitches, a community orchard, a skate park, and wildflower meadows.

What amenities would you most like to see in Great Thorpe Park?

6

Public right of way
Enhancement to the public right of way (route 202) running north-south through the site connecting Bournes Green Chase to Southend Road.
