Environment
Extensive ecology and habitat surveys have been, and continue to be, undertaken.
The site is predominantly in agricultural use and the surveys demonstrate that the site has limited nature conservation and biodiversity value. Indeed, it has been assessed by ecologists as being largely devoid of irreplaceable or high value habitats or high-quality trees.
The existing ecological value is located within the existing hedgerows and drainage ditches, which are largely being retained within the proposals. There is a main badger sett which is also being retained.
In addition, the proposals will provide:
Biodiversity Net Gain of at least 10%
Retention of hedgerows, trees and habitat
Creation of new habitat
Sustainable drainage to manage flood risk and provide additional habitat areas
Over 40% open space
Restoring wildlife
We will be delivering significant biodiversity net gain, helping local wildlife to flourish by setting aside a dedicated area for badgers and ecological conservation.
